The Music of Antonio Martorella



Antonio Martorella

Born in 1957, started to play keyboard, percussions and accordeon at 8. After experiences in jazz-rock oriented bands, at 20 he joined an important italian new folk-oriented band, "Compagnia della Porta". After two records, he left the band for studying Electronic Music. After other jazz-rock oriented projects, at the moment he is working at his etno-jazz project with his brother Vic, percussionist and jazz journalist. Influences on Antonio's works are Joe Zawinul, first of all, Weather Report, Yellowjackets, African and Sardinian ethnic music, jazz pianists and, of course, the great Miles.
