What to do with midi file

Hi, hope there's someone around who can help!

I'm recording some music for a short film, but have no idea what I'm doing! I've currently recorded one piece on Cakewalk Sonar 6 with my Yamaha P90 piano and saved it as a midi file.

Now, I need to know what to do with it next. I was expecting to be able to convert it to a wav file or something, but this is apparently a ridiculously convoluted process so now I'm completely stuck.

I checked out Timidity++ but haven't a clue what to actually do with it, so no luck there.

If there's anyone who can give me some advice or help, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
