Midi for singer who is not a musician

I'm a singer. Period. I don't play an instrument. I'm getting started as a solo act, using recorded music. I realize I need pre-configured Midi songs, but I have no idea of how to capture, store, or play midi songs (pop standards). What kind of synthesizer, computer, cables, etc. do I need as a basic (I'm not a computer geek, either) set up to store and play Midi songs through my Bose sound system?? Can you draw me a picture?
