Sounds like your MIDI card is feeding the signals right back to the QS.
It can be either a defective card or adapter cable.
On some cards you can set the OUT port to act as
THRU. Try to check and adjust the card settings.
Also, when you run Cakewalk, turn off the THRU (or ECHO) in the settings menu,
or use OUT1 (GLOBAL settings on the QS)
