Well, I'd hazard the following guess. It sounds like sample aliasing due to improperly matched sampling rates. If the samples are at 44.1 khz and you're playing them back at 48khz, two things will happen. First, they will be higher pitched. Second, if the sounds lack a properly calibrated filter, you'll get harmonic aliasing, which is a squealish sort of sound. Remember, Soundbridge technology is a bit dicey.
