I have played the Alesis qs 6 and the Roland XP-80 side by side. If you want a workstation with full on board sequencing with excellent sounds go with the xp 80. I personally use an Alesis and I love the flavor, overtones, and feel. The best advice is to try both of them. If on board sequencing is not a big deal I would try the the XP-30 next to the Alesis. Pick the one that has the sound and response that you want.
