You need a sequencer (either hardware or software based) to "record" your performance in MIDI. I don't believe the QS.6 has an internal sequencer. I have a QSR and it doesn't have one.
I think Alesis has a simple software sequencer on the CD-ROM that comes with the keyboard. Hopefully you have a computer.
