You should be able to do it this way. Pick a MIDI channel for your drum machine. Even though drums are usually channel 10 you don't have to use 10 unless you're writing or playing a General MIDI file (I use 16). After you choose a channel, disable this channel in your QS8 mix AND set your drum machine to receive on this channel ONLY (your manuals will come in handy here!)

Now when you play a sequence, your QS8 will play everything except drums and your machine will play only drums. My Alesis DM5 will recognize program change messages but not anything else. I can switch to different drum sets this way but it has to be on the chosen drum channel.

NOTE: If you burn a sequence to a Flash card for playback (you're using Soundbridge I assume), before you "Send to Synth" you have to double click on each sequence your sending and check the "Sequence data via out" (or something like that) or the card won't send any data to your drum machine.
