In my opinion, none of the piano QCards are good. They're only 8 megs. I've made a piano patch / sample card using Trachtman's Steinway C CD (the original one). The size came up to 16 megs which has 3 velocity layers and 2 notes per octav. Since the size is 16 meg, I had to use 2 8 megs flash cards. Here's the sample of recording made with the piano patch (recorded dry without reverb):

You can compare this to the big guys sample (32+ megs) at:

Since I made this sample out of somebody's work, I can't distribute it. You have to make it yourself =(

: Thanks you for the suggestions. I have a QSR and I have downloaded and listened to Sam's patches, some of which I do like. I guess I'm looking for a piano sound that is a bit more natural, acoustic sounding attack and decay. Perhaps it's just the relatively short loops they use in the QS's to pack so much in that affects the realism. Thanks again.

: : My preference is the Stereo Jazz Piano QCard. Its all I've used for the last 3 months. However, you should find a store with one and audition it first. It is focused toward jazz, not classical or rock music. Also, you didn't say which QS you have. If you have the QS6, the Stereo Grand Piano QCard may be what you need. Once again go and audition them.

: : p.s. Also check out Sam's patches, he's made a lot of improvements to the stock sounds.
