The Oberheim Strummer is just what you need for guitar simulation. There's one for sale right here :

: About 10 years ago, Oberheim made a little MIDI module called the Strummer. I got one last year, and on occasion use it with my QS7. Think of it as a highly specialized sequencer that simulates various preset strum patterns; plus you can record your own riffs and phrases, and trigger them back from a single key.

: If you have an extra $50 to $150 lying about, you should be able to find a used one. They turn up now and again on eBay, etc., and sometimes I'll run across the odd dealer that lists one stuck back on a dusty shelf somewhere. They feel sort of cheaply built, very plasticky, much more so than what you usually think of as vintage Oberheim, so DON'T expect something built like a tank.

: Or, you could just get a Korg KARMA, but that involves a bit of a price bump.
