The QS7.1 can be split\layered into 16 zones, one for each midi channel. You can configure each zone to play a sound from the QS keyboard, control an external module, or both-providing the patch numbers are the same on both units. One bug however, the QS synths do not allow you to send an MSB or LSB value with your bank change messages. only the bank numbers which correspond to Alesis synths. If you send bank change it will have a value of 0-8 depending on exp. cards installed etc. This doesn't work with Koeg, Roland or any other synth, only Alesis synths and modules. A major software flaw in an otherwise powerful controller. I sure wish Alesis will address this in an OS update when Numark gets finished with the buyout.One can only hope.
