: I'm not sure you'll find this particularly helpful, but I have gotten both Roland and Yamaha's drivers to work with my QS8. (I actually have them both working on the same machine, and can use either, as long as I don't use both at the same time.) Serial ports are notoriously finicky on the PC, perhaps you have an IRQ conflict or something similar on the serial port. I encountered that situation and got no error reporting back from whichever driver I happened to be using. It simply didn't work.
