: : Hello,
: : I have an Alesis qs6.1 and a Yamaha S30. I would like to use the two together during live performance in my band. My problem is I am trying to be able to change a patch(mix) on one of the keyboards and have the other keyboard respond and go to a predefined patch(mix)also. I believe that the Alesis can only output a predefined LSB/MSB etc. But can someone tell me what the Alesis would look for when trying to change to a mix on the user bank as far as what LSB/MSB, etc. would be. Any help is appreciated.
: : Thanks

: The QS only sends and recognizes the MSB (value of cc#0). For example: Controller 0= Bank Change, Value= 0-the number of available banks. Whereas 0=user bank,1=preset 1, etc. Number of available banks beyond internal is determined by the type of of cards in the slots. I think the limit is 13 before wrap-around.The inablility of the QS to send other than it's preset bank messages is a real detriment to it being a superb master controller.

Sorry, got interupted, I'll finish what I was saying- In response to your question about what the Alesis is looking for- If you're in MIX mode, simply send a bank change command(controller 0)with the desired MSB (value of 0,1,2,3,4 etc.) followed by a program change command. You will be able to access any Mix in any bank. This procedure is identical if you're in Program play mode to access any single program in any bank. You cannot switch between MIX and Program modes via simple CC# and PC# commands though. For that you need to use sysex commands, which is a whole other can of worms and I doubt the other keyboard in your setup is capable of sending them on the fly.Very few are.Hope this helps, Bob.
