: I'm helping out a friend of mine. We're trying to figure out a way for an external midi device of any kind to control the current program number or mix number on his keyboards. For example, he uses program 2 on the 8.1, mix 5 on the 7.1, and program 6 on the 6.1 all for one song. And he plays each individual keyboard, no external sequencer or sound module. Is there anything that would make all three keyboards change to whatever program or mix he wanted? Like "preset 1" on this magical device would chage all three to whatever seetings he needed for a song, then preset 2 would do the same for next song. Thanks in advace!!

The easiest and least expensive way to handle this is to choose one of the keyboards to be the Master. Always run it in Mix mode. Even if you're only using one Program for a song, it will still be able to call up other setups on the other boards. See "Using the QS as a Midi controller" in the manual for precise details on setting up messages for external devices. This way, calling up a mix on one board will auto matically send Bank and Program change messages to the other boards. I use my 6.1 as a master controller for another keyboard and 5 modules. You can email me for more info if you need to.
