I read the resonse by Paul W. and will not argue.
I could not make a timely response. (Sorry). But his info is good as I see it.
I have a Mac which has only USB ports and no serial connection, so I can't be a great help there.
If I had to guess though, its probably some type of conflict with either drivers or extentions, and you know how that can be a tedious procedure to rectify. I imagine it can be righted, but I would be out of my ellement giving you instruction there.
Perhaps one of our Quadra-experts can give us a hand here, one that has a Mac with serial connections.
Give another holler on the this page to get their attentions, if necessary.
As far as upgrading the OS in your 8.1. I didn't know the 8.1 had an upgrade yet, but if it does---it couldn't hurt could it?
