You know, I haven't tried it, but I"ve wondered about it as well. There is no way to trigger drum or other sounds from only a pad such as a Roland PD9 because the QS has no external input to interperet voltages, but a unit like the SPD6 that has a midi connector should be able to do it provided you can set it up to send specific note numbers.
