If you have an SB with a gameport is really easy. Connect the midi cables and chose MIDI instead of the serial connection (on you Alesis). Than, on your sequencer, instead of the Alesis Serial Driver just pick SB Midi In and Out as your default PORT.
In fact, I've noticed that for sysex dumps, the midi works better than the serial port.
