The original Tom Sawyer resonance sweeps is a preset on the Oberheim OB-X synthesizer. The OB-X used discrete filter chipsets versus the CEMs used from the OBXa forward. They have a sound unique to only the OB-X, which is why no other modern day synth can perfectly replicate it.
