: To those inquiring about the Alesis CDROM:

: A lot of people are mentioning they did not get the CD with their QS Synths, so I figured I'd list what's actually on the CD and you can decide what you're missing out. Do not send me emails asking for files or with questions - post them here. If there's interest in any of the files and I decide that it's not violating copyrights I will post them on the web somewhere. This is the CD from around early 00, I think, with the directory listing. The stuff should be self explanatory for the most part.

: --> Alesis Software (Dowloadable from Alesis Site)
: --> ASDWIN
: --> Freeloader
: --> Soundbridge
: --> Sysex Docs

: --> Demo Software (No big loss here, you can always go directly to manufacturer's site)
: --> AWave
: --> Cool Edit 2000
: --> Drumtrax

: --> Emagic Software (probably your only loss here - never used the programs though)
: --> Micrologic AV
: --> SoundDiver Alesis

: --> MIDI Files (Samples from companies that sell MIDI files - the McCrite ones actually are quite cool - I've used some as ideas for songs)
: --> Beatboy
: --> Keyfax Software
: --> McCrite MIDI Files

: --> Program Banks (Dowloadable from Alesis Site)
: --> DMPro
: --> Nanosynth
: --> QS Synths

: --> Sounds (.wav format - haven't really looked at this - no big loss, I don't think)
: --> Greytsounds
: --> MacSounds
: --> Northstar

: --> Third Party Support (Acrobat reader and sequencer support files)
: --> Acroread
: --> Emagic
: --> MOTU
: --> Soundquest

You are correct!! Not having the CD isn't a big loss. The good stuff is all downloadable from the Alesis website. The other stuff is fluff. The samples aren't that good and there aren't that many of them. The SoundDiver editor is an old version 2.0 and is OK but better editors are out there-some even shareware or freeware. The MicroLogic AV never worked for me either.
The other demo software wasn't complete enough to be of much use, so go to the Website and get SoundBridge, Freeloader and the Expando preset banks and thats' the best stuff that was on the CD anyway.
