You will have littlt to no trouble with a Qs7.1. I use one along with a QS8.1 and find them both to be top notch products. They do have their weaknesses, but in a live performance setting you will not be able to keep up with the control options available to you. As for the CD, you are not missing out on anything. I have not used mine yet. The only program that I would find useful is Soundbridge and you can download it from the website. The onboard controllers and effects are more than adequate for any on-the-fly editing of sounds and mixes.
