Sorr, I dont know enough about the QS+Piano to do a comparison.

I also don't know if the qcards sound the same in different machines, but I imagine they would. Alesis could engineer a backward compatibility, but the qcards have built-in samples and built-in programs, so if gear can take a qcard, it makes sense that it could read the samples and program data. For example, if the qcard has program settings for features that don't exist on older gear, it wouldn't be qcard compatible.(Does that mean Alesis hasn't changed the sound engine in that long?) One thing that may be different in the newer models is the quality of onboard effects.

As far as I know, the innards of the 8.2 are the same as the 8.1, same buttons, same sound engine, same stock samples, etc. I can't think of a link that shows the samples. If you can get to a music store and play a QS6/7/8/6.1/7.1/8.1/6.2/8.2, you'll have an idea.

IMO, I would get a QS8.1 over a QS8.2. The .1's are in clearance just about everywhere, and it has 2 qcard slots (the .2's have only 1). That being said, if you really like the silver look and only need 1 qcard slot, go for it. The .2's also boast a 24bit output.

: I have had my QSPlus Piano for a number of years and I absulutely love it. I am thinking of purchasing the QS8.2. I have a few questions.

: 1] Whats the main difference besides the amount of keys?

: 2] Do the Q-Cards sound any different from one machine to the next?

: 3] Where can I get a list of samples that the QS8.2 offers? Web url?
