1). which is better? That's tough - I have and like both, there are definitely things that are unique to each that I don't want to lose. The QSR is more expandable (more compatible with QCards, and has MANY more patches available). The QS Plus Piano has some better piano patches and some other misc patches that are better in my opinion.
2). They can read each others sysex files BUT - the Sample set in the QS Plus Piano is NOT the same as the QSR, so many of the Programs from the QSR will play incorrectly on the QS+; BUT - I have had very good luck transferring the QS+ Banks to the QSR - the QSR expanded onboard Samples apparently contain the original QS+ Samples.
3). A reason for the QSR vs QS+ - some of the newer QCards will NOT work with the QS+.
PS - I also have a QS7. The 4 realtime controllers add a LOT as many Programs make use of these sliders, and they are missing on the QSR.
