If you are using MIDI cables instead of serial cable, you don't need the Alesis serial driver. Delete it from the drivers set-up window in control panel (Windows 3.1, or its equivalent in Windows 95). Also, in the MIDI Mapper window in Control Panel, select "Ext. Synth", and activate all 16 channels wih the MIDI Out driver selected. This will bypass the sound card and send signal direct to the synth. Good Luck.
