: : Excellent board....an opinion is relative to personal preference and anyone can probably find an assortment of gripes about a piece of gear, but for the bucks, I like the QS 8. I'd prefer to see a few more outputs so that I can isolate all the drum sounds and really be able to use the drum patches on a professional level, but maybe that'll be in the next generation of board or I'll get a DM5 or their newer drum module coming out soon. As far as the sounds go, they are excellent quality, sonically speaking and I appreciate Adam Brisben's tech support at Alesis. He's pretty good at getting back to you in a reasonable amount of time if you email him a questiion.

: Well, I've had the board for about a year, and its only prob was a broken key that got promptly fixed. It's stood up to traveling all over, and even my friend's kids! It's light enough for me to put on the top rack of my APEX, and strong enough to hold up to those 4-hour practices. Though neither usually occurr, there've been times. Anyway, the bang for the buck is incredible, and you will NEVER regret your decision. Like I did over a Roland JV-90 my church bought, and I have the misfortune of playing, but that's a whole 'nother story.....

I've been using the board for about 6 months now and the only complaints I have is that it's not a little lighter to haul up to my second story apartment (but still light for an 88 key board) and the fact that the FlashRAM cards are so expensive. I can't see paying $70 for a 4 megger when an added 50% of cost would get double the capacity. But that's another story... although, does anybody have suggestions about where to get more reasonably priced FlashRam?

In a nutshell, I LOVE the board. It fit my small budget beautifully. The samples are first rate. As a piano player, I really like the action. I prefer it to Roland and even Kurzweil. YOu can be very sensitive with the instrument. I would say, that unless you really want the full 88 and weighted keys, get the QS-7. It's got the same guts, is smaller, and much lighter. For me, 88 were a must.
Another interesting thing. I have heard samples (even the famous Kurzweil piano sounds and the like) that have been played back through the QS-8 and they sound BETTER because of all the computer power.
