You can send a mix to a sysex-dump that will not overwrite stored progs/mixes, but will only be read to temporary memory.
This means:
When the sysex dump comes in through MIDI in, the QS will switch to the now downloaded sound.
If you switch to another sound, this MIX or program will be 'forgotten'.
This is done with a command in one of the menues behind the STORE-button.
Have a close look at your manual, it desribes how to do it (you have to set DESTINATION to TEMP or something like it)
