QS+ spontaneously changing pitch

Hello QS owners!

This is my first post to this forum, and I'm hoping someone can help.

I own a QS+, purchased in the summer of 1996. For the past six months, I have experienced horrible, spontaneous changes in pitch as I play, as if I was turning the pitch bend wheel! Sometimes this problem goes away when I turn off the keyboard and then turn it back on, but lately it has become more frequent. It has made recording impossible.

My keyboard is connected to an old device which I have been using as a preamp, the Sansui Reverberation Amplifier RA-990. The amplifier is then connected to the auxiliary inputs on my stereo, a Technics stacked stereo, tape player, and CD changer. The speakers are attached to the stereo. I realize this setup may be part of the problem, although it sounded fine the first year and a half.

Also, I have a second question. As the pitch changing has gotten progressively worse, so has the output to my speakers. I have to turn up the speakers to at least 10 db to barely hear what I am playing on the keyboard. The recordings I make are full of hiss in the background. What equipment do I need to fix this - is it a problem with my speakers, my wires, or my "preamp"? Should I buy a real amplifier?

Thank you for taking time to read this.
