A little wet behind the ears

I just bought a Alesis QS6. I got a great deal on it, one I was waiting for for a long time. I have been playing lead guitar now for about 10 years. I slowly picked up other instruments(drums, bass, and trying to sing). I have pretty much lost my band and so have become my own band.

I am looking to learn how to play keyboards and learn to sync everything off of my computer and digital recorder. I was hoping someone could give me some advise as to how to get started. I have gotten as far as hooking everything up and recording a few tracks. I have a BS in Electronics Engineering and working on a MS in Computer Science and I have never felt so stupid. I am not to clear on where to start. I have tried reading the manual but it is a little above my comprehension because I don't know the terms they refer to. I have a TASCAM digital recorder and ALESIS keyboard. Are all these terms that I am being overwhelmed by consistant across all manufacturers.

Well, you can see I am quite confused. I was hoping that you could give me a good book to get me started on learning MIDI. I also wonder if I am going to get anywhere just fussing around playing keyboard. That is how I learned how to play my other instruments. I have already figured out a lot of songs that I like after finding a similar sounding program. Are there any good books or videos to get me started.

This experience has made me find a new respect for keyboard players. Thanks for any help.
