: Ok... I'm a newbie to midi recording and the QS6 instruction manual is a little beyond my current comprehension. I am using Cakewalk 7 Pro with my QS6 and the instuments I receive through the software are not the same sounds when listening through the headphone port. I also receive no aftertouch through Cakewalk. I am using a Soundblaster Awe 64 Gold Card. Any info on the appropriate setup to obtain all instruments and sounds from my QS6 will be greatly appreciated.

: Thanks,

Ben, we need you to be a little more specific, but I'm going to guess what you mean and answer that. If I'm wrong, try again, and I'll see what I can do.

First, the Aftertouch. There is an options screen in Cakewalk that tells CW what MIDI messages to accept. I believe you'll find it under settings. It'll be MIDI input, or recording options, or something like that. You'll see Channel Aftertouch listed there, and it will be unchecked. If you check it, CW will record Aftertouch messages. You may find you don't wnat that, as I have, but that's how you would turn it on if you wanted to.

As for the sounds changing, what headphone port are you talking about? If you're talking about the headphone port on the computer, then you will NOT get the same sounds, because your sound card is generating the sound, not the QS-6. Not surprisingly, your QS-6 sounds a lot better than an AWE 64 sound card.

I hope this helps. If not, try to be more specific, and I'll take another crack at it.

Mike
