Thanks for the assistance! I fixed the I/O setting as you suggested, but that didn't do much until I did one other thing--bought a new serial cable!
I can now get sound flowing, but it's still a bit dicey, and yes, Cubasis is the one with the font missing.

: First of all, hit Edit Select, then Bank>, then hit Page> until you get to "I/O." Make sure it's set to Mac.
: If it says "PC," move the switch on the back of your keyboard to "Mac."
: Secondly, don't use both FreeMidi and OMS. It really confuses your Midi programs and your gear. I feel that OMS is more flexible and widespread,
: but the stuff on the software CD tends to like FreeMidi.
