Major NanoSynth trouble

I recently purchased a Nanosynth module to integrate into my small bedroom studio setup. Here's the trouble:
1) When the MIDI ins and outs are connected to my Opcode 64x interface, and I attempt to play it with my controller keyboard (Yamaha CS1x)
the Nanosynth input port gets clogged and my sequencer (Cubase VST) crashes. I assume this has something to do with the fact that the
Nanosynth is always receiving on all 16 channels? I dunno. In any event I can't play the darn thing unless I only have the Nanosynth's MIDI out
connected to the interface - and then the only way I can change the sounds is from the front of the unit itself (which I'd rather not have to do).
Basically I want to be able to use OMS to select the banks and program changes via my sequencer, which brings me to my next problem:
2) When I subscribe to the OMS patch names for the Nanosynth and change the patch in Cubase all I get is program 1 - the piano.
I assume that solving my first problem with subsequently solve the second.
Anyway, If anyone else ahs either had these similar problems or knows a way around them, I would be very grateful!
Thanks,
Matt Gold
