: Hello,

: Just happened upon this forum and it's excellent! I'm
: down to buying either a QS8 or a Kurzweil PC88mx. Has anyone
: played / owned both? Which is more roadworthy, as we play live
: 3 to 4 times a week. I also play heavy handed, is one
: more sturdy then the other? Last but not least, which has the
: better "rotary effect" for the organ sounds? Any other comments?

: Thanks very much in advance for any help, and keep enjoyin' the music!

Yes, I own both the Kurz. PC88mx and QS8. The General Midi voices on VGM expansion board (PC88) is superior to the General Midi voices of the QS8. Examples - Applause, Birds, and a few others. The Applause voice on the PC88 sounds like real audience applause, while the QS8 sounds like white noise. The Birds voice is more realistic on the PC88 as well. I really hate the cheapo transformer plug that's implemented by the PC88. It will cover an outlet or cover an extra plug on a powerstrip. You could actually "flex" the earlier PC88 keyboard case and keyboard, but the case was reinforced on the latter PC88 models. (I really lucked out there.)
