This may be obvious to all of you but I tried everything to make my Alesis driver work with my laptop and QS8 (with no luck) until this:
I was using the Cubasis sequencer that comes with it - In addition to setting up everything within Cubasis correctly, you neet to select the Setup MME in the Cubasis program group and choose the Alesis driver for your input and output.
Hope this is helpful for someone who feels as clueless as I did.
