I got really close to this sound with my Matrix-1000 years ago. It was a created using sync'ed oscillators I believe. Without looking at my QS sample table, I don't know if there is something like that.

: : Hi everyone, I'm looking for a QS6 patch or suggestion on how the replicate the synth sound for
: : 'Why Can't This Be Love' on 5150 by Van Halen.

: I beleive that was done with a Roland Guitar Synth... Your best bet is to start with a distorted electric guitar sound, use a flange effect to get the filter sweep type sound. another key will be to get the envelopes to trigger right - if you listen closely, you'll notice that the attack doesn't trigger on every note...you should probably be able to get pretty close.

: : There seems to be some kind of weird portamento/filter thing going on that I can't figure out...

: : Thanks.
