Recording Mix's to Cakewalk

When I select say, "MIX USER 03 - SilverDrop" which has 3 MIDI channels; Then record/play a song into Cakewalk, ONLY the first channel (PRESET2 097 -- PatchCords) is recorded/played-back. However, if I copy the "Take" to 2 additional channels/tracks AND manually change the "Chn" in Cakewalk from "-" to 1,2 and 3 respectively do I hear the mix correctly.
Can this be done automatically ? From what I understand about the Alesis QS8 & Cakewalk this can be done but I can't seem to do it. I've tried "Settings/Channel Table " in Cakewalk and many permutations of the QS8 Global Settings options.
Many Mahalo's (Hawaiin for "thanks") to anyone who can assist !
Alesis QS8 with Serial Port Driver 3.04 (2/6/99) on Windows98
Cakewalk Pro Audio 6.01
Alesis QS8 settings:
KBD MODE: Normal
General MIDI: OFF
MIDI PRG SEL: ON
MIDI Out: THRU
