Fixed the serial port issue. I checked the PC port and it was okay, and checked the Alesis port, and found it transmitting on pin 2 (host TX).
Threw in a null modem adapter and it works now. The serial cable I got was wired straight through. Now to fix my MIDI IN jack...

: Check the sttings for the driver, that both the puter and the qsr are set to the same speed and that the driver is set to the right serial port. Thats all I can think of right now..
