Hi,April.I don't know if you have made your decision yet, but here are
some things to consider.
Is this to be your main instrument? Stand alone or will you use it to control modules etc.?What type of music do you do?Live prformance or home studio/sequencing?What style?
Both are fine instruments.6.1 has the edge as a main controller and ease of programming.XP has arpeggiator, alesis misses the boat here.
Both do great synth pads and textures, butXP has far better samples of
strings, choirs, and other orchestral and ethnic sounds.6.1 has better organs.Alesis also gives you a better manual.Often an overlooked feature. If you are going for strictly sounds en mass XP is the choice.
But for 200.00 less 6.1 Can provide alot of features for an existing setup. If this will be your only keyboard and you have the cash, go for the XP-30.
