: : If either case is true then your hearing the GM sound bank inside you SoundBlaster/other card. The sounds inside your keys are not transmitted through MIDI, only digital references.

Actually, no. I have a Sounblaster Live, and the sounds I'm talking about are teh voices from my QS thru the amp. I just am hearing acoustic piano on a track that is cofigured for a violin, another that is confgured for bass, etc. Sometimes, the whole mide file is all in piano.
