Doing a re-init and reloading the user bank is all you need to do.

Channel 10 does seem to be tied to the GM drum kit. However, you can select other drum kits on another channel.

Note that powering the unit off while it's playing the demo puts it in a bad state, and you'll need to reinit.

The profile supplied with Unisyn is buggy, and does not allow you to edit a program's effects--you can only edit the global effects.
I recommend Geoff Moehrke's QControl editor, which does work well with the Nanosynth.
