: : I had a resent brainstorm and though I might be able to silence the NS on various channels using System Exclusive messages and selecting the U-127 patch. The only problem, I have no idea how to do this.

: : Can anyone help me with system exclusive messages that would set the "silent Program" to midi channels 1-9?

: You don't need SYSEX. Send a Bank Change to Bank 1 and a Program Change to 127 on the channels you want to silence, just as if you were trying to set that channel to some regular program.

Actually, though, I'd also be curious to know if there's a SysEx method of doing this. The NanoSynth's responsiveness to all channels, all the time makes it impossible to incorporate it into a chain with other devices (because program change commands sent to other devices will elicit an unwanted response from the NanoSynth).

Someone on alt.music.midi had mentioned that it's possible to toggle specific MIDI channels off on the NanoSynth using SysEx. Can anyone walk me through how that's done? I'm working with a hardware sequencer that I believe can issue SysEx commands. I've just never done it and I'm not very familiar with SysEx in general.

Thanks in advance.
