I've recently purchased a QS7 after many yrs w/o a keyboard. I find this instrument a very sophisticated and difficult to pick up with. I played keyboards for yrs in clubs etc. I fortunately found this website for future needs. MIDI is new to me so you can see where I'm coming from! I have a compaq presario 1925 laptop and would appreciate any assistance to interfacing the two units?

Recently purchased the QS7.1 along w/Mackie 1202, Pro Audio 9, and AudioWerk2. Been writing songs since '69, and am going to take a stab at submitting demos; "old school" trying to shake hands w/new technology. Pretty much analog at present, but am running the serial cable into my 300M/256R/8.4G/W95. Musically, I've been acoustic all my life...

we (radio massacre international) bought an s4+ a few years ago to take some of the weight off our emu samplers in live performance; the idea was to use the s4+ for some straightforward string/brass/percussion sounds. when we heard the unit's demo sequence, we knew it could do much more.... now I've got the windows version of soundbridge up and running, I'm thinking of ditching one of the samplers.
also, the vintage keyboards card compares very well with the real mellotron and seven tape racks we have. well done.

Hello All! I'm still enjoying my Quadrasynth Plus Piano even though their out of production. It's so wonderful to play and I love all of these wonderful sounds! I'm using two sound cards. The old hip-hop/dance card and the world sounds card. I'm also using it to control a Planet Phatt and a Korg N1 rack! The organist at my church enjoyed some of the organ sounds (and he plays on a Hammond B-3 with a double Leslie....). I've enjoyed learning on and playing my Quadrasynth! Bye!

Recently purchased a QS8.1 for $1379 from local music store. Plan to use it for my music ministry
for local Catholic Parish Sunday Masses. The Parish already has a Qs8, and initially my plan is to
learn to create midi files to play as background for my guitar group during Mass. This keyboard is
the most amazing instrument!

I have had my QS8 for about a year and a half, it is truly awesome. I have been using it for performance purposes only. I would like to finally log onto my home computer with it, I have the demo software and the serial cable, I am just a little apprehensive. Eventually I would like to play imported midi sequences through a laptop, does anyone know what I would require to do this? What would be the system requirements for the laptop, would it have to have a sound card? Would it be possible to download the demo sequencing programs to the laptop, or would I need a separate sequencing program? What would you recommend?

Thanks!

I just wanted to say that this web site is an excellent resource for support of the Alesis Qudrasynth sereis of synthesizers. I just recently bought an Alesis QS8 and all I can think are great things about it! :-) Like all synthesizers it has some small limitations but it's usally nothing that you can get around with a little ingeniuty! :-) With all the effects sends, parameters and modulation madness there is virtually nothing that you can't do.

Just out of curiosity, I was wondering if there was a better way to simualte a resonance filter other than using the inverted flange technique described on the Alesis website. I tried it and it came close, however, I don't know it the lfo it uses to vary the pitch slightly to produce the flange effect can be turned off and controlled manually via the modulation wheel or a-d controllers. If anyway knows of a way to do this please e-mail me anytime at Eternal_adv@yahoo.com, I'll be glad to hear from you.

Other questions:

1. Does anyone know of any programs out there that will let you imbed your samples, mix info, program parameters and effects parameters into one sysex file so that you can setup your whole song simply by loading back the midi file. I'm currently using the Alesis Qs8 and the Sound Blaster Awe64 gold with the Cakewalk Express Gold sequencer to prodcue an album. I need a way to setup up complete sysex banks that are part of my midi files so that anytime I load a new completed song of mine, I don't have to use soundbridge and freeloader to first clear the pcmcia card(once I get one) and finally download the preset information. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated, thanks! :-)

2. I know that soundbridge can be used to send samples to the the qs8. Hoever, are there any programs on the net that will allow read the samples off of the pcmcia card and send them back into my computer as .wav or .aiff files?

3. Lastly, Does anybody know of any more websites like this that have loads of midi files for the qs6, qs7 and qs8 that show how you can make house, trance, dance, jungle, drum and base, acid, etc. using only the internal sounds of the qs8? Currently, I don't have the dough to buy the Q-cards! :-)

If anyone out there can help me with this please E-mail me at.

Eternal_Adv@yahoo.com. We can chat and maybe we can exchange info about qudrasynth programming, etc. I am always ready and willing to learn all that I can about synth programming! :-) Thanks, everyone and take care

I own a QS6,7,8, and QSR. I have a Latin/Salsa music band and most of my sounds come from sequences that I make or buy. I soon hope to get the Latin Card to get better sound instrumentation, specially for the brass and percussion sounds.

I own Alesis Quadrasynth and it's my mastercontroller. I think it has nice feeling keys (better that Korg 01/wfd/WavestationEX, many others) even some has bark them. Better piano sounds than in my Yamaha P50M!!! :) quite funny... and better for example flutes than in my Yamaha VL-70m... I didnt wait for cool sounds when i bought QS. I have to say that i was confused when I tested it....

I'm thinking of buying a QSR. My main computer is a Mac running Digital Performer, but I'd like to record midi drum sequences using my laptop, which is a W95 machine. I currently don't have a midi interface for my laptop. If I hook my laptop up to a QSR through its serial port and connect to a drum module being played/triggered by a real drummer via the thru port on the QSR, can I get the midi data into a Windows sequencer (specifically, Powertracks Pro?) or do I have to buy a midi interface for my laptop to do this? Q#2 Is Unisyn a real patch editor or just a librarian? Can you generate random variations in QSR patch parameters with Unisyn? Thanks for your help.
