I've really just begun; well more accurately allowed myselftime off from computer and amplifier design and computing consultancy to allow some time for my fun/fullfillment/rawpleasure. That pleasure is for me to take my decades of hard paid dues in electronic/computer/programming and turn right round 180 so I may learn the joy of making music; comosing scores; making broadcast standard multimedia justfor my own pleasures. I've been lucky so far such that I'vethe freedom to pursue this with the full knowledge that I don't have to please anyone but me or earn money in the 'industry'. I've spent some time reviewing such periodicalsas RECORDING magazine and Electronic Musician. From this brief search I'm quite drawn to most all I've read, seen or heard from Alesis synths, controllers, you name it.

If anyone out there is considering whether a QS-8 is worth the wait....it is. I just got mine a couple of weeks ago from Kraftmusic and it is an incredible instrument. I am completely shocked that you can get something this powerful with 88 weighted, hammer action keys for $1,500. I have read several reviews on the QS-8 and am pleased to say that in every one of them, the MIDI controller features of the QS-8 were entirely understated. If anyone out there is considering a Roland A90 or Kurzweil...you have to check out the QS-8 first.Has anyone else out there with a QS product figured out how to layer sounds in the MIX mode? I can't figure it out from the manual (I know this sounds incredibly dumb). I am new to the Quadrasynth and would like a jump start on this particular feature.

I have an Alesis Quadrasynth Piano Plus.........beautiful tones. It serves as an excellent slave to my Roland E-56 Intelligent Synth. Now I have the great piano tones (high attack) from the Roland and the nice "airy" sounding synth and string tones that fade off from the Alesis (They are MIDI'd together).

I think it is a shame that you removed all mac files from the software library. I mean there are a few of us out there working on macs too. I have have downloaded all available mac-files on your page and they seemed to work fine. I'm looking forward to see the update of the mac version of soundbridge and I I would be glad if you put it in the software library. I'm sorry if we mac guys didn't give enough response. I find your page invaluable and it would be sad if you stopped supporting the mac platform. (I'm working on a little list of shareware sofware for sampling and sound editing on the mac, let me know if you are interrested).

First time visiting your page. Congratulations for the organization. I will be back many times! I have a Quadrasynth with Piano Card. Maybe you can help me:In Mix Mode, when I change from one patch to another, all the releases of the first one are cutted. This creates intervals between the two programs, mainly when the first has some string sound with release. How to avoid this, in live performance (using Mix Mode)?Thnk you very much.Luciano Alveshttp://www.wp.com/lalves

Having bought a QS+Piano a couple of weeks ago, I was very pleased to find such an informative and helpful site as yours. I am very happy about my new gear. One thing I am missing a bit in your pages are more in depth informations about SoundBridge, the way it works, FlashRAMs and maybe a list of retailers for these. This list would be especially helpful for me as it seems to be almost impossible to lay your hands on such a thing for a reasonable price in Germany. Thorsten

This is a Great place for us with Alesis synths. Thanx. You mind a little question. I'm waiting for my s4+, and have a small question. With soundbridge 1.2 I know i can download samples AND program info to a pcmcia card. What I wonder is, HOW do i make a multisampled synthbas as an example??? I know I can name a voice and point it to ONE sample, but most of the sounds in the s4 consists of multi sampled voices. lets say my bassound is sampled at three points. c1 c2 c3. CAN i make ONE voice that uses these three samples? Is it in the way I define my wav.file or.... Or is it it so bad that with soundbridge one voice uses one sample? Also if I have a drumloop in stereo wav. is there a way to get this into the s4+ in a smart way? I want to press lets say c3 and here my stereo sample. maybe if i trigger two mon waves at the same time??? Best regards Mike

Les, Leo here again. Wow! what a frustrating scene. In response to your questions (1) I really don't know what kind of browser I have and if it is confiqured to download sysex files and zipped files. I've learned about the compression factor and I do know what sysex is about, however when I click on hypertext(sound library or or shareware)my screen shows the number of bytes being transferred and when it's all over the file appears in my download dir. BUT, when I click on the file I get a prompt that tells me that this file needs some other program to run open the file,i.e.(This file is of the blank type cannot find PKZIPW.EXE to open it or run it). So I do a search for this "application" if you will and cannot find it. So then I went on line searching for a unzip program and found something called Zipwiz which I downloaded into the download folder. It has a feature that enables you to simply click and choose the file you want unzipped and it supposedly unzipps it. I anticipate the appearance of a program icon and wella....NOT. Instead I get a prompt that say's "UNZIP SUCCESFUL" and that's it. (2) I think I understand your second question. Yes I beleive that I do have a utility that will enabel me to transfer sysx files I have cakewalk and cubase on my C drive. By the way, Thankyou for your response. I was really suprised to hear from you. I really like communication and your response was very thoughtful. Thanks. If I may be very breif(YEA RIGHT) I thought that it might help you if you know about my computer backround. I have none. I purchased this gateway about a year ago and before that I used an atari ST/hybrid arts stuff which actually was just fine. I put the digital music down for about 3 years and went back to study classical piano until recently when I decided to try it again. I bought a small mackie board a Quadplus an ADAT and a PC(Gateway2000P5-75)ensonix sound card(I need a new one with decent ins/outs anticipating the puchase of direct to hard drive sys) and cubse/cakewalk. This all has happend within the last year and with the full time gig I have not until recently been able to really work at it. Unfortunatly for you, I'm ready now. Again my primary focus at this time is my sound library as I consider sounds as the nuts and bolts of my music or the cellular building blocks of music if you want to be more organic. Well, I'm going to keep experimenting. Thanks for your time. Leo

Hey, How's it going? I'm encouraged by your web page. I am a quadrasynth Plus owner. I have been looking for a sound library that includes mostly guitars and a second library that includes mostly strings. I've heard Korgs Trinity and Rolands Orchestral module and was very impressed. Nonetheless I am at this point a dedicated Alesis man. I beleive that the quad engine is capable of producing great quality sounds but because of the lack of time to do sound designing and the lack of money to purchase a Korg or a Roland, I'm looking for a alesis library that will get me in the ballpark. I tried downloading a library from your sight but I had problems getting it to download (I've got windows 95). Anyway, your response will be greatly appreciated. Thank you and keep on being creative. Me and friend work at two different schools, where we every year produce one big musical. Since we both have Quadrasynths which we both compose all music with, I really appreciate people who share new patches with us. It is really refreshing to be able to change patches! We want to thank you´ll and keep up the good work!

Dear Fellow Quadrasynth Fans: Just thought I'd write to let you know of a great deal I just found on the new Alesis QS-8. I followed Les' link to the Kraftmusic store where I talked to Ben Kraft (the owner...what service!). Ben sold me a QS-8 for $1,490.00 with absolutely no haggling. Believe me folks, if you have the money, this is absolutely the best deal you'll find. Ben is very knowledgable about his products and offers excellent service and response. I highly encourage anyone who is interested to give him a call at 800-783-3368. After I received the QS-8 (should be sometime in the next two weeks) I will be writing a full review of its capabilities and performance. In addition, after I've had a few days to spend with it I will upload some sequences for those of you who might be interested in checking them out. Sincerely, Larry Hines Austin, TX

Just a few hours ago I purchased my first really profession- al keyboard, a Quadrasynth Plus Piano, after 3 years of frustration and dissappointment playing around with a Kawai FS2000 Personal keyboard. I knew little about the Quadrasynth except that it was talked about expectantly on the midi conf- erences before it made its appearance a few years ago. I was really pleased to hear how well it sounded, (great piano!) and the nice touch of its keyboard. I am also greatly encour- aged and appreciative to find your presence here on the WWW. Thanks very much. rz. toy, a Kawai KS2000

I have had my Quadrasynth for over a year and a half now. What an excellent synth. I was originally talked out of buying one because the gear snobs I was talking to told me that it was'nt a real synth 'just a sample playback board'. Then I played one at Goodmans music in LA. Well if this is what a crap cheap low quality board sounds like then I would love to see what Alesis could do if they started charging real money for their kit. Needless to say I bought it on the spot and have been more than happy ever since. I own a bunch of other synths and the QS can definitly hold it's own. My only regret is not getting the upgrade when it was available. If anybody from Alesis is listening I was wondering if they would consider a second run if they could obtain an up front commitment from all those registered users out there that were too dim to do it first time around. Say require an up front payment and then do the production run. I am sure that there are enough people that get on this site to justify a run on their own. Even so I am very happy with my top quality, excellent sounding, completly reliable Quadrasynth. Ps, This is an excellent site. Keep up the good work.

Hi. I bought a Quadrasynth Plus few months ago, and... man, it's really fantastic. Before buying, I compared it with other synths, like Ensoniq TS-10, Roland XP-50, Korg X3, and the Quadrasynth sounds is better. I was thinking: Why people don't talk about Quadrasynth? They just talk about Roland and Korg gear. Here in Brazil, Roland and Korg are very popular. You told Quadrasynth will be discontinued. Is it true? I'll be very sad, becose I see the QS6 and QS8, and one thing that borred me is the LCD. It's small and, of course, has less information. I really prefer my QSPlus. But I saw the QS8 keys, and I'm in love! I have a Roland A30 Keyboard controler, but I prefer the QSPlus keys. Thank you for the site. Bye. PS: I'll soon send you my MIDI Sequences.

I'm sorry I am a new net user and I'm not shure of my E mail number. I will come back again soon. I own a QS6 and use Opcode Galaxy & Unisyn editors to work on new banks and libs. When I get back to you're site I will leave some patch banks if you like. I am so glad I found you because I wanted to see how the Quadra and QS6 match up.I also have many other synths mods and samplers and use Mac,IBM,& Amiga. Thanks again for you're help.
