: I am new to MIDI equipment. Honestly do not know much about it. I have MAGIX Music Studio generation 6, Soundblaster Live Soundcard, and appropriate 5-prong cables. Additionally, I have a Boss ME-5 guitar effects processor. The processor has a MIDI function and the MIDI in and out ports, however, it is approximately nine years old and the Music Studio 6 software does not seem to recognize the equipment. Can anyone assist me in setting this up. Or, can anyone give me input on any additional hardware to use for the guitar interface if the effects processor is obsolete or incompatible. Thanks
The ME-5 is an effect processor, and it will not work as a guitar to MIDI converter.
You need some expensive hardware for that.
The ME-5 MIDI functions are for storing and recalling patches. Your software will not recognize any MIDI instruments,
you have to set up the and name the appropriate patches. There are editor/librarian programs (SoundDiver for example) that
come with the proper settings for the ME-5.
