MIDI control of audio console mute scenes

Our church has purchased a Souncraft K2 40 input audio console with support for MIDI control of 128 programmable mute scenes. We have a PC sitting next to the audio console which, to date, has never been used as a MIDI device. What software do I need to use the PC to "capture" the mute scenes generated by the console, then, under operator control, send those scenes back to the computer. Also, is there any particular MIDI hardware interface you'd recommend for the PC to accomplish this job.
