Help I'm new and need MIDI Knowledge

Hi, recently bought a no-name laptop with a pc based processor. I'm going to invest
in Logic, Cubase or Ableton live. I need to
know after I buy the program...do I then
need to buy a midi interface or external
soundcard? Please help. Any recomedations
would be appreciated. Thanks
