Weak keyboard sound from Santa Cruz

Hello!
I have connected a MIDI keyboard to the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz audio
card. I use Power Tracks Pro as audio software. However, the sound that I
get when playing the keyboard is very quiet and weak. I have maxed up all
the volume controls I could find (I use Windows XP), but the sound still
feels sort of muffled. The speakers are alright. In fact, clicking on the
virtual keyboard delivers powerful sound.
I thought that this was because I told the software to use a wrong MIDI
device (I have four listed: Santa Cruz DLS Synth, Microsoft MIDI Mapper,
Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth and Santa Cruz External MIDI), but
changing them brings no audible result.
Can you please suggest a way to make the sound good?
Many thanks.
