hookup Kawai Q80/quickshot keyboard

I recently bought a Kawai Q80 EX and then picked up a Quickshot Midi composer keyboard. I need to know where to start as this is my first midi experience. I want to record sequences to incorporate midi into my performances with guitar and use leads and backing tracks i am downloading from the internet. How does one get midi into a format that runs through an amplifier? Do I need an "interface" or some type of converter
to make the midi into sound" I'm a real newbie to this, so be gentle.
