I am also having this problem. I am trying to download a midi file from the web and put it into a Cubase 16 track midi sequencing file. I want to edit the tracks to make a one man band. Can anyone help?
: I got word from Yamaha support that the MIDI in port on this device is always active. They also said that this port listens on all 16 channels. In addition, they confirmed that, after power up, I should be able to connect a controller to this port and get the default sound (Accoustic Grand Piano?) without first having to send a bank select and program change.

: The conclusion, at this point, is that the MIDI in port on my PSR is not working.

: : I tried setting the keyboard for external clock and didn't see any difference.

: : : I think you'll find the answer on page 70 of the manual.

: : : : I am unable to make the Midi In port work on a Yamaha PSR-GX76 keyboard. I have confirmed that the controller providing the Midi Out is working. Does anybody know if there is something I have to configure on the PSR to make the Midi In port active? (There seems to be nothing about this in the manual.)
