a few pts:

- You don't need a mixer, since you only have the alesis. A mixer, as the name implies, is only used to mix different sound sources.

- the direct connection to a PC is for midi, not audio.

- Your pentium is probably not good enough to record digital audio, but it should work for just plain midi.

- remember you can always connect the outputs to a regular tape record and record that way. With this frenzy of digital audio people forget you can still do it the old fashion way. If you can setup a midi sequence on your PC (which is not very processor-hungry, as opposed to audio), you can setup everything up and when it sounds good record it.

- If you really want to be able record multiple tracks you'll need to invest on a newer computer, with a good soundcard. You can then connect the audio output of the alesis to the line in of the card. And yes, audio files are very large. You would record it in a wav and then burn it into a CD. If you're ready to take the plunge I would suggest do some homework on what you want/need to make sure you buy wisely.
