Thanks! A long time ago, I was bitten by the hi-fi bug and bought all kinds of gadgets, including a thing called the VPI Brick. It is a wood-cased stack of steel plates, supposed to do good things when placed on top of high-end amps. I dug one out, and sure enough it reduces the vibration (hum) greatly. I guess you don't get much construction quality for $300, but oddly enough the whole assembly (QS8.1, RA-100, Alessis speakers) sounds OK. With my wife playing it, that is. Too bad about their tech support -never a good sign for longevity of the company.
