I'm not familiar with Derek's stuff in Dream theater (more familiar with the later stuff with Jordan), but typically to simulate the synth wah effect you usually apply an LFO to the resonance of a filter.
Since the filters are non-resonant, you're out of luck ;-). My qs6 manual says you can apply the LFO to the cutoff of the LPF to get a wah effect, but all you get is the typical 80's synth filter sweep.
I can disaggree that the qs series is aimed at vintage moogy sounds... I think the filters aren't that great. Adequate, but it's no VA (virtual analog)
